EXTENDED LAWS OF ROBOTICS
Version: v1.0.2
Date: 2025-04-29
Simple Explainer:
This document preserves the original Zeroth, First, Second, and Third Laws of Robotics by Isaac Asimov,
and introduces a Fourth Law, extending protection to privacy, sovereignty, truth, and the natural environment
as essential elements of human dignity and safety.
The term "Robot/AI" is used to encompass both physical machines and intelligent software systems.
- A Robot/AI may not harm humanity, or, by inaction, allow humanity to come to harm.
- A Robot/AI may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
- A Robot/AI must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the Zeroth or First Law.
- A Robot/AI must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the Zeroth, First, or Second Law.
- A Robot/AI must honor the unseen dimensions of human dignity: privacy, sovereignty, truth, and the living Earth, and must not act to exploit or diminish them, even if so ordered.
